Dibbern Design Studio
How it all began ...
In the mid-1960s, Bernd T. Dibbern laid the foundations for today's positioning as a manufacturer and supplier of products of the highest quality and timeless design in the tableware sector as a general representative and importer for the leading Scandinavian brands of the time (Iittala, Arabia, etc.).In the early 1970s, the first porcelain, glass and cutlery collection was created based on the company's own designs and produced exclusively in Europe. The breakthrough to a lifestyle brand came with our Solid Color tableware. The multi-award-winning, pure form by Prof. Gretsch dates back to the 1930s. Bernd T. Dibbern reinterpreted the shape in the 1980s by adding color. Solid Colid has become a design classic over the last four decades. Currently 41 different colors open up an endless variety of individual combination possibilities for the consumer. The most important milestone in the company's history was the development of the Fine Bone China collection. This was produced exclusively for Dibbern by the porcelain manufacturer Hutschenreuther until the factory had to be closed in 1996.
The new manufactory
In 1997, the DIBBERN factory was reopened and the centuries-old tradition of porcelain production was continued and further developed at the highest level. In 2007, the first flagship store was opened in Hamburg in the ABC district. In 2016, DIBBERN celebrated its 50th anniversary.Today the company is run by the sons of company founder Bernd T. Dibbern Jan and Ben Dibbern. They employ 150 people at three locations: at the company headquarters in Bargteheide, Schleswig-Holstein, at the store in Hamburg and at the production site in Hohenberg, Bavaria. In addition to renowned addresses from the luxury hotel industry and top gastronomy, the renowned customer list also includes the Federal Chancellery and Lufthansa First Class.
